It's beginning to look a lot like.... HALLOWEEN!

Posted by dani handrian
It's about that time for... HALLOWEEN!!!  We've been busy trying to incorporate Halloween cuteness with our learning because our school's Fall Festival was tonight.  My classroom is on the main hallway, so I felt is was necessary to jazz up the walls!
We made these bats to solve and sort double digit addition and subtraction without regrouping.  You can get these bat templates for FREE on Cara's blog.

We used the pumpkins from my Halloween Fun Unit to do a little proper noun writing since that has been our focus this week.  My kids actually did pretty well when it came time for them to incorporate proper nouns into their writing.

For a little free-handed fun, I decided we needed to make Frankensteins for our door.  I do have a Frankenstein craft in my Halloween unit, but I hadn't prepped any of the copies to make them.  However, I really like how these turned out!  I just gave my kiddos scraps of green, orange, black, white, and red construction paper and they came up with these cuties!
We are celebrating Red Ribbon Week next week so I decided to put a drug-free saying with it :)  Halloween Decor- CHECK, Red-Ribbon Door Decor-CHECK!

And, I'll leave you with a picture of me from our Character Dress-Up day at school.  I was Brigid from Purple, Green, and Yellow by Robert Munsch.  Our grade level rotated classes throughout the day so we could read to each 2nd grade class.  It was busy, but a lot of fun!  And, boy, did it make the day go by fast!!!
